It’s 6pm on Friday. Do you know where your developers are?

I thought I would post something that I’m going to try and make a regular feature. I wanted to give everyone a list of the stuff that our hard working developers have been putting together this week.

  • Improving the ‘charge delay.’ We’ve been making it smarter to work better with the variable number of days in different months. We’ve expanded the option to allow you to set it to charge immediately, on its due date or after the usual number of days specified.
  • Further progress on our expanded domain name integration. We’re improving our domain name management features considerably. This week in particular we were working on improving the invoice code so that it can pre-bill for upcoming domain renewals. The end goal is to have the system be able to automatically renew or not renew domains based on whether payment was received in time or not.
  • Support manager speed improvements. We’ve located and removed some code that was slowing down the support manager. Anyone who uses a lot of different departments with a lot of admin users and has seen a marked slowness will see a serious improvement.
  • Interim CPanel 11 integration. Mike has taken it upon himself to get something together for those of you using Ubersmith and CPanel 11. This should hold people over until our next release when we add the full service module framework to Lite and Pro which will have more fully fleshed out integrations with a few different control panels.
  • Our first steps toward real PDF invoices. You’ll soon be able to kiss those ugly htmldoc pdf invoices good bye. Dan has been neck deep in pdf generation code. Soon the system will not only be able to generate pdfs that you’re happy to show to clients, you’ll also be able to attach them to invoice emails automatically.

The best part is that all of those items are things we’re adding to Ubersmith Lite and Pro. I know people seem to think we’ve forgotten about them or we don’t care, but that is definitely not true. We’ve got more in the pipeline for Lite and Pro than ever before.

However, I do have one DE specific feature that we’ve completed just this week.

  • Confirmed integration with Quickbooks UK. We’ve had quickbooks integration in DE for the past month or two, but we have now fully integrated it with the UK version as well. You’d think that wouldn’t be too far of a jump to make, but Mike is living proof that it’s no picnic.

As always, thanks for reading and for the support of our system. We had a great time at HostingCon this year and were glad to meet everyone in person for the first time. We’ve already got our booth booked for next year.

In other news, our new office walls are now a very nice shade of orange. More on all that later though.
